Syria: Israeli strikes close to the capital Damascus injure 4 troopers

BEIRUT (AP) – Israel carried out a missile assault close to the Syrian capital of Damascus and its southern suburbs early Thursday, which injured 4 troopers, Syrian media reported.

The state-run SANA information company quoted an unidentified navy official as saying that Syrian air defenses have been capable of shoot down most missiles earlier than they hit their targets. SANA stated among the missiles have been fired by Israeli fighter jets over neighboring Lebanon.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition struggle monitor, reported that the Israeli strikes have been focusing on navy posts close to Damascus. He gave no additional particulars.
